Soldiers' Fort is a satisfying slice of classic LEGO Pirates — a theme that defined an era for a generation of builders and still holds up beautifully today. Released in 2009, this 367-piece set recreates the familiar tension between redcoat soldiers and seafaring pirates, with a stockade prison, pull-action cannon, and a winch for hauling up the treasure chest. The fortress runs about 30cm long, so there's genuine presence to it on a shelf or in play.
Six minifigures are included — two pirates and four soldiers — alongside a rowing boat, a monkey, a crocodile, and a fish. That cast of characters gives the set a lot of storytelling energy, and the monkey as prison guard is exactly the sort of detail that made the Pirates theme so endearing.
